We've taken the FIRST Step!
Thanks to:
- Past Chair Tony Butler's project management over the past 3 years of the procurement and development of the Business Plan, today's excellent presentation and deft responses to the councillors' questions,
- strong support from Culture Division Director Anna Bradford and Manager Ian Kerr-Wilson over the past 3 years,
- months of partner and stakeholder introductory meetings spearheaded by Vice Chair George Thomson,
- the number of calls, e-mails and letters to the standing committee members, the Mayor and the (local for the lighthouse) Ward 5 Councillor from so many, many of you,
- a contingent of 14 BCLG'ers in the audience,
the City of Hamilton's Emergency and Community Services Committee passed the KEY recommendation:
"That staff be directed to investigate the terms to transfer ownership of the Beach Lighthouse and Lighthouse Keeper's Cottage from the Federal Government to the City of Hamilton and report to Emergency & Community Services Committee" amended to include approaching the local MP and informing Ward 5 Councillor Collins of the progress.
All 7 councillor committee members were in attendance as well as non-committee member Ward 5 Councillor Collins, all of them spoke to the issue and many of them referred to the number of calls, e-mails and letters they had received on this.
Thank you for your collective support on this important milestone.
Come out to the first General Meeting in 2010, Sunday January 11 to help savour this success and celebrate!
