Birds or Bats?

I go sometimes in the evening for a jog or a walk on the beach trail.
When it gets dark, I can sometime see (there were lots of them today) some bird shapes flying around.
It is too dark to identify them, but they fly in quite erratic manner, often in the circles, and with sudden changes of directions.
Do you know if those are bats? Do we even have bats here? Or those are just some insect-feeding nocturnal birds?

Thanks,
Sebastian

I could be both, yes we have bats, which is a good thing(unless they end up in your house). But I also see many of a type of swallow that will fly very erratic. There are many nesting boxes over at the Windermere Basin that produce many offspring each year.
