That was taken in 1956-57. I recall being in Grade 1 going over to the site with my father on the re-claimed land. It was an adventure to see the bridge come together. It was on display (model) at the Ontario Government Building at the CNE that summer. It was quite an event. Alf Wilson's Grandfather was the first to go for a complete ride over the bridge after the construction was concluded. Prior to that during recess we always saw small planes taking off using it as a runway for the engineers and big-whigs from Premier Robards cabinet in Queens Park.
