Beach Community Council Meeting

The next Beach Community Council Meeting is Tuesday, April 3rd at 7:30 pm, held at the Hamilton Beach Rescue Unit. Come out and support YOUR community.

Summary of Beach Community Council Meeting Minutes
from February 6th, 2018

• 6 members of the Beach Community present
• Presentation from Mr. And Mrs. Bezner from the Crown Point Community regarding environmental issues
• Spoke about how Hamilton has the most polluted airshed
• At this time, the two chemical carcinogens that are being looked at is benzyne and benzopyrene
• We are looking for a community member who would like to be a liaison person at environmental meetings. This committee meets four times a year. If you are interested please e-mail ed.n@hbru.org for more information
• We have a Nevada account that is a fundraiser for kids events on the Beach, such as the T-Ball, Easter Egg hunt and Kid's Christmas Party – Nevada tickets can be purchased at the Beach Variety Store!
• Concerns were brought up that there isn't enough content in the Banner. Community would like to see a summary of meeting minutes posted as well as the Beach Community Facebook page as well as the Beach Community Website address
• Question raised about the possibility of getting a bus shelter at the Beach Variety Store. This has been passed along to Chad Collins.


Around the Bay Race 2018

The Around the Bay Road race is Sunday, March 25th, 2018. The 30km race begins at 9:30am and takes about 4.5 hours. Below I have posted the route as it will affect traffic and movement on Beach Boulevard.

The race begins on York Blvd., outside FirstOntario Centre.
Around the Bay Road Race 2018 Continued
The race proceeds east on York Blvd (which turns into Wilson Street), to John St., runners then turn north and proceed to Wood St. where they turn West to James St. N. Turn right on James St. N, and proceed north to Burlington Street. A right turn on Burlington St. and follow for approx. 7 k to the ramp leading to Woodward Avenue. Go north on Woodward Ave to the Beach Strip. After crossing the Canal lift bridge the race turns onto Eastport Drive to Northshore Blvd. The race will turn west bound onto the rolling hills of Northshore Blvd., and then west onto Plains Rd. to York Blvd. and then finish into FirstOntario Centre at York Blvd. and Bay Sts.

Good Friday Easter Egg Extravaganza!

The Annual Easter Bunny and Easter Egg extravaganza will be held on Friday, March 30th, 2018 at the Jimmy Lomax Park (Ball Diamonds) at the canal end of the Beach Strip at 11am sharp!! Ages 0-12 years. Donations please! The Easter Bunny will be making an appearance. There will be coffee for the adults. Snow or shine!


Beach Community Clean Up

The annual Beach Community Clean Up will be held on Saturday, April 28th from 9am to 1pm. Participants are asked to meet in the parking lot of the Hamilton Beach Rescue Unit. Garbage bags and lunch will be provided.

Neighbourhood Clean-Up Events

Spring has officially arrived, and there are already two community clean-up events planned for Ward 5. Please join me at:

10th Annual Davis Creek Clean Up at Greenhill Park (west of Quigley Rd.) – Saturday, April 21st, 2018 (9 a.m. to noon)

11th Annual Beach Community Clean Up at the Hamilton Beach Rescue Unit – Saturday, April 28th, 2018 (9 a.m. to noon)

Supplies and refreshments will be provided to participants. These events will be held ‘rain or shine’. If you’re unable to attend the neighbourhood clean-ups but would like to assist with a clean-up on your own time, please contact my office and I’ll deliver the supplies to your home.
