The Beach Strip
#1
There will be more movie cameras on the Strip this Friday(Sept 23) evening as the TV series ReGenesis plans to film some scenes on the beach behind Mareve Ave. The City has told me that part of the filming will include a bonfire utilizing wood and flame bars and that the film company has all the required permits in place. A representative from the Hamilton Fire Prevention Division will pre-inspect the location before this controlled open fire and information flyers will be sent to all area residents. I will try to get a few pictures.

I borrowed this from the ReGenesis' site,
"ReGenesis is a one-hour dramatic series that follows a team of scientists at the NORBAC lab as they investigate the often shocking advances in biotechnology occurring on the international scene. Throughout the series, the team is charged with investigating the most dangerous cases involving Avian Flu, Ebola, Camel Pox, cloning, stem cell research, and doping that left unsolved could turn deadly. While David Sandstrom (Peter Outerbridge) and his team struggle to "get it right", they are often faced with frustrating setbacks that even the NORBAC organization may not be able to control.
ReGenesis focuses on the North American Biotechnology Advisory Commission (NorBAC), an organization formed to investigate questionable advances in biotechnology. Toronto native Peter Outerbridge stars as David Sandstrom, a molecular biologist who leads a team of researchers as they seek the truth to the ethical, legal and moral consequences of scientific progress. Throughout the series, Sandstrom is constantly challenged to question the impact science has on people's lives; often he discovers the answers are not what anyone expects to hear.
The series co-stars: Maxim Roy and Conrad Pla of Montreal, Halifax native
Ellen Page, Greg Bryk and Dmitry Chepovetsky of Winnipeg, Sarah Strange and
Mayko Nguyen of Vancouver and Mishu Vellani and Mark Rendall from Toronto.
Directing duties for ReGenesis are shared by three of Canada's most celebrated film and television directors, Genie and Gemini-nominee John L'Ecuyer (Queer as Folk, Curtis's Charm), Gemini Award-winner Don McBrearty (The Interrogation of Michael Crowe, Butterbox Babies), and Gemini Award-winner Jerry Ciccoritti (Lives of the Saints, Trudeau). Dr. Aled Edwards, Professor and Banbury Chair of Medical Research and Chief Executive, Structure Genomics Consortium, serves as the Science Consultant."

The Beach Strip

This was quite the production, the ReGenesis entourage pretty well used the whole parking lot at the Dynes.
The filming was to depict a night scene on a Cuban beach, with a bon fire, palm trees, a pink caddy and many actors of Cuban descent. It was getting colder and everyone was having a hard time looking warm.
Watch for this show on Global in the near future.
