As was announced last night after Dr. Sorger's presentation, this is just a reminder that the Beach Preservation Committee and Environment Hamilton is having a letter writing workshop for comments on Bitumar's amendment to their Certificate of Approval for air (CofA) on Wednesday January 25th @ 7:00pm located in the Dynes.

For those of you who are not aware, Bitumar is applying for an amendment for their CofA (air) to include another burner, storage tank for raw material, recycling vessel (tank), truck loading rack (pipe) as well as a few other additions.

This is an opportunity for the residents to submit their comments for the Ministry of the Environment to consider when granting or refusing CofAs. Your input (letter) is very important.

I have packages for those who are unable to attend and want to write their letters independently and we can fax them directly to the MOE. Submissions must be faxed to the MOE no later than Sunday January 29th.

Also to let you know that the Bitumar CLC is on January 26th at 7:00pm for those interested to learn from Bitumar their additions.

If you have any questions regarding this CofA amendment, you may call Ron Hall at the MOE, 905-521-7673 or Environment Hamilton 905-549-0900.

Hope to see you on the 25th,

Cheers,

Brenda Johnson

Bitumar was to have growing pains in the beginning, but we are coming up to three years of them as our neighbour and they are far from getting it right.
It still smells, many spills, one major fire and an explosion at their truck repair.
Now they want to expand, fix the problems, then expand.
They are not a very good neighbour for our community. :bang:

I keep calling about the smells. It seems to be getting worse year after year. The first year we were here when it smelled we could only smell it on the road side of the house, now we can smell it in the backyard.

If you smell asphalt or tar, keep on calling and complaining. We shouldn't have to live with that in our community.
