The notice below was in the Spectator on Friday December 2nd, this notice refers to a (small) street in Stoney Creek and not Hamilton.
Some residents were asking.

PUBLIC NOTICE
TO PERMANENTLY CLOSE AND SELL THE
FOLLOWING CITY LANDS:
A PORTION OF THE ROAD ALLOWANCE
OF BEACH BOULEVARD,
IN THE FORMER CITY OF STONEY CREEK,
NOW IN THE CITY OF HAMILTON
A PORTION OF PUBLIC UNASSUMED
ALLEY SOUTH OF 10 WEIR STREET NORTH,
HAMILTON
Notice is hereby given pursuant to Section 34 of the
Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. 2001, c. 25, as amended, that the
Council of the City of Hamilton proposes at its meeting to
be held in City Hall on Wednesday December 14, 2005 to
pass a By-law to permanently close a portion of the road
allowance of Beach Boulevard and a portion of a public
unassumed alley south of 10 Weir Street North in the City
of Hamilton.
A copy of the drawing showing the lands to be affected
may be seen in the Operations and Maintenance Division,
77 James Street North, Suite 324, Hamilton. Please address
inquires to the attention of Ms. Marilyn Preston.
On Monday December 05 at 9:30 am, the Public Works,
Infrastructure and Environment Committee will hear in
person, or by his/her counsel, solicitor or agent any person
who claims that his/her lands will be prejudicially affected
by the said by-law and who applies to be heard. Any such
person who wishes to be heard should make written
application to the following individual:
