Construction at the Lift Bridge.

A few people have asked me about the on going construction in and around the Lift Bridge. There isn't any construction, but a soil removal and capping program. When testing, PWGSC found much lands near the Bridge are somewhat contaminated, so 6 to inches of soil is being replaced.

The soil capping project has unearth a concrete footing on the Burlington side of the Lift Bridge, just east of the North Tower. I assume that it was a support for the old Swing Bridge which was removed when the present day Lift Bridge was built.
