Sterling Fuels purchases Provmar Fuels Inc.
"In 2013 we plan to replace the MV Hamilton Energy with a newly purchased state-of-the-art 2002 OPA 90 double hulled product tanker. The new vessel will be named the "Sterling Energy". The Hamilton Energy has served Provmar and its customers dependably for nearly 28 years. While it will be sad to see it go, all good things come to an end. We are confident that our new vessel will proudly follow in the wake of the MV Hamilton Energy".

A short article from the newsletter "The Wheelhouse" written by Skip Gillham.

The feature "Namesakes of Hamilton" in the June/July issue had an obvious omission, the tanker HAMILTON ENERGY.
This vessel was built as PARTINGTON by the Grangemouth Dock Co., of Grangemouth, England (Hull 535) in 1965. She was constructed for Shell Tankers (UK) Ltd. and operated in British coastal service to 1981. Her name was changed to b) SHELL SCIENTIST in 1979.
Shediac Bulk Shipping purchased this vessel in 1981 and renamed her c) METRO SUN. The 201 foot 982 gross ton ship continued in their service to 1984 and was laid up at Halifax. She came to the Great Lakes the following April and was refitted in Port Weller harbour for her new role as a bunkering ship for Provmar Terminals of Hamilton. She has worked in the refueling trade around the western end of Lake Ontario since bunkering SIMCOE, her first customer, on June 11, 1985.

Thanks to Skip from allowing his work to be posted here.

As stated in the first post, the Hamilton Energy was to be replaced by the new Sterling Energy, it took a little longer to be done than I thought, but here are a few photos of the new fuel ship.
