Hi, I ride across the beach twice a day commuting to work and am also on the Hamilton Cycling Committee. For the past year or so, we have been jointly involved with the Burlington Cycling committee in trying to get Public Works Canada to install a walkway on the lake side of the lift bridge, as per the resolutions of both Hamilton and Burlington city councils. Federal MP's in both Burlington and Hamilton have been copied on our correspondence.
A lakeside walkway would allow access to the Lakefront trail for handicapped people (The Hamilton side currently requires using the steps), as well as make the Lakefront trail much easier to navigate when travelling between Hamilton and Burlington.
Public Works Canada says their work is done, one can access both sides of the trail, they plan no further work in the area. We provided some low cost alternatives to building a walkway, they ignored our suggestions.

Does anyone have any ideas on how we can persuade them to build a lakeside walkway??
