Dear BCLG members and friends,

Our next meeting is on Wednesday, May 14th at 7 p.m. at the Hamilton Beach Rescue Unit. We'll be visited by the team of consultants who are working on our business and operations plan.

They want your input as part of their fact-finding mission. They're looking for ideas and suggestions about the lighthouse from the community, both BCLG members and others who have an interest. So, plan to be there to take part in a very interesting session.

As always, we're tempting you with those famous lighthouse cookies. How can you refuse?!

Good news from Ottawa!
Bill S-215 passed 3rd reading in the Commons, and yesterday was passed in the Senate. By month-end, we should have a Heritage Lighthouse Protection Act!

The bill protects federally-owned heritage lighthouses by providing a means for their designation as heritage lighthouses; by providing an opportunity for public consultation before alterations are made to a designated heritage lighthouse; by requiring public notice before the transfer, sale or demolition of a designated heritage lighthouse; and by requiring that designated heritage lighthouses be maintained in a manner consistent with accepted conservation standards.

See you on Wednesday, May 14th at 7 p.m.
