Meeting Preview

Here's a preview of some of the business we'll be presenting during tomorrow's AGM Sunday November 8 at 2 pm at the Hamilton Beach Rescue Unit, 316 Beach Blvd., Hamilton.

1) Help finish our website,

There is to be membership information and an application on the website.

To date, fees for 2 of the 4 membership categories in the bylaws have not been established. Therefore in order to complete the membership page of the website, the following fees are recommended by the Board of Directors:

New membership fees for Corporate and Life Membership:

Corporate - $250 per year

Life - $200 one time payment

Round up the membership fees for the following:

Individual - from $12 up to $15 per year

Family - from $24 up to $25 per year

For your reference here's the excerpt from BCLG Bylaws:

"Memberships can be in the form of individual, family, or organization memberships.

Active members are those who have paid either the annual or life membership fee.

All Membership fees shall be set by the Board of Directors and approved by Members at a General Meeting"

2) finetune our organization for the next phase of our odyssey to bring the lightstation into the future, and

Since it's going to take a little longer to reach our goal of restoring the lightstation to open for public access and appreciation, we need to make the Officers identified in our Bylaws a bit more sustainable and reflective of the current structure put in place following the retirement of our founding Executive Director in 2008.

Tomorrow we will be presenting a Notice of Motion for the January 10, 2010 General meeting on the proposed amendments to the bylaws. The proposed amendments to the Officer positions and terms will be distributed and discussed at tomorrow's AGM in preparation for a vote at the January 10, 2010 General meeting.

3) Based on our experience with some grant applications in 2009 and in an effort to reduce expenses:

- the Notice of Motion for the January 10, 2010 General meeting will also include proposed amendments concerning the appointment of an auditor, and

- a recommendation for reducing operating expenses.

We look forward to seeing you tomorrow!
