Dear Friends of the Lighthouse,
This afternoon, our request for funding (of up to $50,000.) for development of the lighthouse business and operations plan went before the City of Hamilton's Emergency and Social Services Committee. It was approved without question or discussion! The attached backgrounder. The next step, as we understand it, is that the request goes to Council for approval on Wednesday, October 10th. It may be helpful if BCLG members, and other interested citizens, send their expressions of support for this funding to their City Councillor. Complete contact information can be found by visiting http://www.myhamilton.ca/myhamilton/CityandGovernment/YourElectedOfficials/CityCouncillors and clicking on 'Profile and Contact Information' under your Councillor's name. A backgrounder document is attached for your information.
An advance reminder - our annual general meeting will be held November 11 at 2pm at the Hamilton Beach Rescue Unit on Beach Blvd. We hope you can join us and we also hope there will be cause for celebration at that meeting.
Best regards,
David Auger
