B. and M. Matthewman Are Saved by Beach Trio When Iceboat Breaks Through and Hurls Them in Water.

Forming a human chain, Roy Christian, Thomas Ide and Paul Henry, three Beach boys, late Wednesday after noon crept out on the pitted ice and rescued Bruce and Morgan Mathewman, Station 4 youths, from the bay. The two Mathewman youths were having a spin on their iceboat when It suddenly broke through the ice a long distance from shore, at Dynes' station. They were thrown in water seven feet deep and only kept afloat by hanging on to th© side of the boat. They then tttempted to climber to the ice but it broke off when they put their weight on its edge. The other three boys who had been watching the iceboat from shore quickly ran to the rescue and by lying down fully extended on the ice managed to assist the others out of the water. During the rescue the ice started to break under young Christian and he was pulled to safety by Thomas Ide. As soon as all had got safely back on firm ice the boys left the iceboat and headed back to shore. None this morning were reported suffering any ill effects from their experience.
