Public Works and Government Servlces Canada have sent out two annoucements for work to be done this winter on the Lift Bridge

LANE RESTRICTIONS ON THE BURLINGTON CANAL LIFT BRIDGE - EXPECT DELAYS FROM DECEMBER 2010 TO MARCH 2011

Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) will be carrying out a painting project on the lower portion of the lift span on the Burlington Canal Lift Bridge. Paint work is expected to be carried out during the following winter shutdown period, from late December to March 18, 2011.

During this period, road traffic will be reduced from four lanes to two lanes, and drivers may experience delays. The bridge may occasionally be closed briefly (15 minutes) during this time due to construction operations.

Burlington Canal Lift Bridge parking closure DECEMBER 2010 - MARCH 2011

Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) wishes to advise all area residents that the parking lot located adjacent to the South pier of the Burlington Canal Lift Bridge will be closed beginning December 1,2010 until March 31,2011.

This closure is due to repainting and repair of the bridge.

Safety is a top priority for PWGSC and we are committed to ensuring the continued integrity of the bridges we manage. We apologize for any inconvenience this closure may cause and thank everyone for their understanding.
