Meeting Summary

MEETING SUMMARY HAMILTON BEACH COMMUNITY COUNCIL
The last two meetings have been informative: In December Al Fletcher from the City of
Hamilton talked on the New Comprehensive Zoning Bylaw for the City of Hamilton and
answering questions on how it will affect our neighbourhood. In February Lesley
Sampson from Coyote Watch Canada gave a presentation on coexisting with Coyotes in
neighbourhoods.
The next meeting is scheduled for April 2 and will focus on the Easter Egg Hunt held
each year on Good Friday. In December the Children’s Christmas Party was funded by
an Event Fund created out of the Community’s treasury. These events are successful due
to efforts of community residents that lend their time and energy and donations from area
businesses. There will be a discussion on creating a Hamilton Beach Event Committee.
Ed Nowlan is looking to the community for volunteers for the Easter Egg Hunt. Please
contact him if you are able. Our children benefit from these events and it is always a
great way to meet your neighbours.
If anyone would like a meeting Agenda and Meeting Minutes sent to them by email
please contact the secretary at deblevo@cogeco. ca. Your email address will not be
sent to other recipients.
Please continue to contact he Ministry of the Environment and industries if you have
impact concerns. US Steel has a new number 877-218-8772 answered by an operator
that will direct your call to the correct person.
Anyone interested in meeting with industry representatives the Hamilton Industrial
Environmental Association’s next meeting is February 18 at 7 pm.
Meetings are held the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. (excluding July,
August and December) at the Dofasco Main Office, 1330 Burlington Street East in
Hamilton unless otherwise noted. The meetings are open to all citizens who are
interested in attending. To assist in planning meetings they ask that you please let them
know by email info@hiea.org at least 2 days ahead if you plan on attending or call 905-
561-4432.
The Hamilton Air Monitoring Network at www.hamnair.ca is available to all to view real
time data on emissions. They plan to relocate their station here on Beach Boulevard this
year and add two stations for Particulate Matter monitoring.
