Brant the male youngster from the bridge nest has gone AWOL. They are asking people to be on the lookout and notify them if he is seen. He has a "Yellow and Blue Band on the right leg".

Nice Scotto. I have been seeing some around my house lately too. Off to their long journey to Mexico they go. And a new life begins next spring again. :)

It's sad to see them endangered though.

The canal site can be car accessable (if you are able to still drive), but there is a lot more action in the warmer months when there are little ones around that need constant feeding.

Scott that is a "Awesome Shot" have you submitted it for a photo contest?

I know the Burlington Art centre has one once a year.

I would like to take credit but it isn't mine, it was sent in by a Beach resident who doesn't want her name posted. She sent me a couple and I liked this one, yes nice shot.

2 for 2 falcon babies have hatched at the lift bridge and 2 downtown nests within the last couple of days. One more egg to hatch at both nests yet. Let's hope they all survive. :)

Good luck to all, the Bridge birds haven't had much of that in the last few years.

The lift bridge nest isn't that old. Unlike the downtown nest. But the numbers of those birds are slowly climbing. :)

Today was banding day. Anne Yagi, Biologist with the Ministry of Natural Resources performed the banding . The statistics are as follows:

Lady Lamont - Weighing in at a whopping 1063 grams - Black band 41/X and she will be wearing a red band on her right leg

Lady Nelson - A little smaller at 988 grams - Black band 42/X and she will be wearing a yellow band on her right leg

There were 2 unhatched eggs in the box, which were retrieved for testing.

Now the fun begins. Given their size and estimated age of 26/27 days, the official Fledge Watch will begin in approximately 10 days (June 10th)

A few from this week.

Black Crowned Night Heron, he didn't like his picture taken even though I was behind a barrier wall on Eastport;

Swans with their young at Confederation near Hutch's;

A few more of the smaller birds trying to get the swans to move from their nesting area;

Double-crested Cormorants;
