Beach Community Awareness.

The Port Authority has submitted a second application to the City. The applicant is proposing to construct a Digital Billboard with back to back signs measuring 18.3 metres (60 feet) by 6.1 metres (20 feet) and a sign area of approximately 111.5 square metres (1200 square feet) on each side. The Digital Billboard is proposed to be located on the west side of Eastport Drive, north of Windermere Park (105 Eastport Drive) on lands regulated by the Hamilton Oshawa Port Authority.

The City Council was not in favour of the Port’s first application and denied the Port’s proposal.

The Port has submitted a second application to the City requesting to move the project forward. The beach community needs to be aware that these signs are massive and refresh new ads within seconds of each other. The Beach Community Council does not have any independent data that would disclose the light-flickering pollution that may impact our neighbourhood.

The City has provide an outlet for our comments. Please help protect our community by SUBMITTING YOUR COMMENTS TO THE PLANNING DEPART. BEFORE JAN 25.

The Province has put a stop to the Port's plans to erect signs on Eastport.
From Chad Collins;

As part of the City’s circularization process with City Departments and other government agencies, the MTO has advised that the requests do not conform with their sign policies, and both requests for permits are declined.”
