Part of the James N. Allan Burlington Bay Skyway bridge will be closed overnight tomorrow to allow for the beginning of $6 million in maintenance work.
The Ministry of Transportation will be closing all of the Niagara-bound lanes of the QEW on the bridge from 10 p.m. tomorrow to 10 a.m. Saturday to replace a 22-year-old expansion joint. The detour will be via North Shore Boulevard to Eastport Drive and over the lift-bridge.
The Niagara-bound bridge marked its 22nd birthday Oct. 11.
The span carrying Toronto-bound traffic marks its 49th birthday on Tuesday. More work on replacing the joint will continue until the end of November.
The remaining five joints will be replaced next year.
In addition, the Hamilton-bound lanes of Lakeshore Road will be closed at Eastport Drive from 10 p.m. tomorrow to 10 a.m. Saturday. No access will be provided to the lift-bridge from Lakeshore Road during the closure. The detour is the same as above
