My overall aim as a writer is to entertain you - with a thought-provoking and imaginative romp.
Who am I? --- M.L. Holton, aka Margaret Lindsay Holton is an award-winning artist from the area who seems to write novels in 15-20 year spurts ... My first came out way back in 1986 with Toronto's Coach House Press. My second, 'The Gilded Beaver by Anonymous' won the Hamilton Arts Council 'Best Fiction' Award in 1999, and now, twenty years on, TRILLIUM, a hybrid historical fiction, has arrived.
Over the years I have slowly developed my writing voice after taking a B.A. in Literature and Philosophy at the University of Toronto, topped off with a Graduate Creative Writing Program via Humber College under 2x Giller Prize winner, M.G. Vassanji. Aside from my 2-D artworks, I have written numerous freelance long-form articles on a wide range of subjects. In 2016, I produced, directed and wrote my first narrative short film, The Frozen Goose, (based on my published short story of the same name) - https://thefrozengoose.vhx.tv --- Writing, as a discipline, in different genres, is a substrate of much of what I think and do as an artist who marks 'our times'.
