The Falcons Have Flown the Coop

Chick number one has hatched at the downtown nest yesterday. 3 more to go hopefully.

Just hatching now, yet the bridge chicks have already been banded. Quite a big difference in timing.

MadamX was about 3 weeks late laying this year. Possible her age?

Chick number 2 has arrived downtown. Great seeing these numbers climbing.

All of the babies at the bridge nest have now learned to fly.

Only 2 eggs hatched at the downtown nest. They should be banding them in a few more days.

I was down there yesterday and the little ones were very busy, very nice pictures from the foundation.

Sure is great seeing the numbers grow for this beautiful bird.

They should be banding the downtown babies probably in a few more days. Only 2 hatched at that nest this year.

Banding of our 2013 birds has been successfully completed. Our theme for bird names this year is "Heroes and Heroines of the War of 1812", so chick No. 1 has been named "Laura", for Laura Secord, and chick No. 2 is "Brock", for General Brock. No. 2 would have been named "Tecumseh" but we learned that a Peregrine chick at Windsor, Ontario was given that name a few weeks ago and we try not to have two birds with the same name. A few of the female falcon, I was hoping to get a glimpse of the band so I could tell which bird it was, the third shot was very helpful.
