I figured out the name Carrey but not the Port Hope yet. Hence Jim Carrey that lived in Burlington for quite a while. But I was never a fan of his though.

Jimmy is missing. They are asking anyone if they have seen him to let the volunteers know of his whereabouts.

And he doesn't know how to hunt yet. So it doesn't sound too promising since it's been this long since he's been missing.

Before I read online about Port Hope on the site I was putting my dog out and noticed about 3 raptors in the area at the same time. I wouldn't doubt they were turkey vultures. It usually doesn't take them long to come around when a dead carcus is around.

Not too much news on the pair this spring other then it's the same pair Cirrus and Mackenzie at the bridge nest. The only other news is they have seen mating..

And the downtown nest is the same pair, MadamX and Surge. They have the cam up and running now but not much going on yet either at that nest site. But it's still early yet.

Around mother's day is when the eggs hatch. That's when things get more interesting. :)

The life span of Peregrine Falcons in the wild is up to 15.5 years.

MadamX is now 14 years old. Possible this will be her last year at the downtown nest? Let's hope for more. She has been a great mother. And she has been the longest nester of the nest site of any male or female. Be sad to see her go.

I doubt she will die of old age, most likely another female will take her out. That is what happened to a female that was at the liftbridge for many years.

If we see Surge with a new female, more then likely MadamX will be deceased as most if not all birds mate for life.

Incubation???

March 17, 2013 - Burlington - Lift Bridge

Sue McCreadie Reports:

Twice today we were at the Lift Bridge and it would appear that Mom is in incubation mode. She was laying down in the back corner she uses when incubating. Dad was sitting beneath her on the old nest ledge. This is the first time we have witnessed this, this year.

First time in about 50 years since they laid any in this area due to the DDT episode. So I guess it's helping with the cleanup of the bay.

There are eggs at the lift bridge nest but none yet downtown. But it won't be long now till MadamX does too.
